CANOPIES

Canopies create an aesthetical effect to the building architecture, be it used at the entrance of the building or as a decorative feature in the roof. It usually consists of steel structure with aluminium cladding or steel structure with spider glazing/point fixed glazing or combination of both or with tension cables & rods to give more sophisticated look to the facade. The advantages of using the canopy at the main entrance are that the entrance to the structure does not sustain direct weather harshness.

The exterior steel finish shall be galvanized or hot deep galvanized which provides additional protection and isolation from the corrosive attacks of chlorides and sulphides, which can be specified as per the requirement of the project. The aluminium cladding used in fabricating the canopy shall be (4) mm thick depending upon the project specifications.

Whenever using a glass canopy, utmost care should be taken in the selection of the glass as it has to be laminated to avoid any injury during breakages.

All steel work sustaining the load of the canopy is structurally checked against different load factors like wind load, dead load & live load.
